What is Kick Start Athletics for Kids?

It is a modified athletics training program for children aged 6 years – 12 years using child sized equipment and aids. The focus is learning skills in a fun, non-competitive environment.

How long is the program every week?

About 1 hour.

By enrolling in Kick Start Athletics for Kids do I become a member of Wyndham Track and Field Club?

Yes, and you have access to specialist coaches and insurance.

Will you coach all events?

Yes, there will be opportunities to learn sprinting, longer running, jumps and throws

Are children turning/turned 12 eligible to join up?

Yes. While there is an age limit mentioned, it is only an indicator. Children who are 12 years old are welcome to join.

What is the cost for 2nd and subsequent children?

$120 first child and $100 each thereafter

What is the cost if we join up after December or later in the season?

Depending how close it is to the end of the season we may apply a pro-rata rate. Tbc.

What if my child has a disability?

All children and all abilities are welcome.

Are parents expected to wait with their children?

Yes. Parents can join or help out.

Is it only athletics training or is it competition?

It is only athletics training.

What if the child doesn’t enjoy it can we get a refund?

No, unfortunately we don’t offer refunds.

What do you get for the fee paid?

A T-shirt, coaching, access to a highclass athletics facility and morning tea. Sometimes we get sponsors and donated items which we will pass onto the children.

Are children of all abilities welcome?

Yes, we focus on fun and fitness, all abilities welcome.

Is there a limit on the number of participants?

At this stage, no.

What is the child competes in Little Athletics?

We encourage them to join the program as we can offer a coaching pathway to senior athletics.

When is the last day to register?

There is no last day we will continue to accept registrations until at least Nov 2017.

What if my child wants extra training?

Coaches will spot talent and ability and offer them opportunities to move up to Intermediate and senior levels in the club.
